Hackney Therapy House

Beautiful, welcoming therapy rooms where independent practitioners provide counselling, psychotherapy and psychological therapies, creating a safe space for healing, personal growth and emotional wellbeing.

Welcome to Hackney Therapy House

Hackney Therapy House is home to a community of experienced Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Counselling Psychologists and Mental Health Practitioners, all working independently in private practice while sharing a commitment to providing safe, ethical and professional psychological care.

Hackney Therapy House is home to a diverse group of therapists and counsellors working independently under one roof. All practitioners are self-employed, independent professionals and are individually responsible for the therapeutic services they provide, including their appointments, fees and clinical practice.

We encourage you to explore our therapist directory, read through individual profiles and find a practitioner whose experience and approach feels right for you. You can then contact them directly with any questions or to arrange an appointment.

We occupy two floors at 83A Kingsland High Street, offering six comfortable therapy rooms with double glazing for a quieter, more private environment. Located just a 3-minute walk from Dalston Kingsland Overground and close to Dalston Junction, our rooms provide a safe, confidential and easily accessible space to pause, explore and support your mental health.

About Hackney Therapy House

Hackney Therapy House was established in 2019 by Dr Gokce Olga Soy, Counselling Psychologist, Couple Therapist and EMDR practitioner, with the vision of creating a welcoming professional community where experienced therapists can practise independently while providing accessible, high-quality psychological support.

Today, we bring together practitioners from diverse professional, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, reflecting the communities we serve in East London.

Our therapists have different areas of expertise and work with a range of presenting difficulties. Please explore our Types of Therapy and Areas We Work With pages to find out more.

Our Commitment to Professional Standards

Maintaining high ethical and professional standards is central to everything we do.

Before joining Hackney Therapy House, every practitioner is required to provide evidence of:

  • Professional qualifications
  • Current professional indemnity insurance
  • Membership or registration with an appropriate professional body
  • Ongoing clinical supervision and continuing professional development

Our therapists are registered with recognised organisations such as the British Psychological Society (BPS), British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), depending on their profession.

Hackney Therapy House carefully reviews these professional requirements before therapists join our community. However, all practitioners remain self-employed independent professionals who are individually responsible for the therapeutic services they provide. Any therapeutic agreement is made directly between the therapist and the client.

Our Values

We believe that therapy can provide an opportunity for healing, personal growth and meaningful change.

Our community is built upon shared values of compassion, respect, diversity and inclusion, integrity, professional excellence, confidentiality and ethical practice.

Above all, we believe that safe, trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationships can support lasting emotional wellbeing and personal transformation. We appreciate that taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting. We hope Hackney Therapy House provides a welcoming place where you can find the right therapist and begin your journey with confidence.

Finding the Right Therapist

We understand that choosing a therapist is one of the most important parts of beginning therapy. Every practitioner brings their own professional experience, therapeutic style and areas of expertise.

We encourage you to visit our Our Therapists page to learn more about each therapist, their qualifications, specialist interests, therapeutic approach, languages spoken and availability. We hope this helps you find someone you feel comfortable connecting with, as a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the foundations of effective therapy.

Our practitioners offer therapy both in English and in several other languages, including Turkish, French, Italian and Polish, allowing many clients to receive therapy in the language in which they feel most comfortable expressing themselves.

Our Therapists

Our therapists are all qualified, experienced professionals in counselling, psychotherapy or coaching.
